This June, “Choose to Reuse”!
World Refill Day is celebrated internationally each year on June 16. It’s a day to champion the positive impact of refilling and reusing. Small changes in your daily routine—like carrying your own water bottle or coffee mug, and participating in reusable container programs where available—can add up to significant waste reduction!
Initiatives on Campus
Here are a few of the things we’re doing on campus to manage our environmental performance:
- SMU Hospitality has partnered with Moonshot Compost to tackle food waste and grow a greener campus. This visionary initiative showcases the university's dedication to sustainability and responsible environmental practices. The collaboration with Moonshot Compost has enabled the establishment of cutting-edge composting at Umphrey Lee Dining Hall and Arnold Dining Commons, propelling SMU's leadership in sustainable practices. Through these strong partnerships, Southern Methodist University's composting program not only minimizes organic waste on campus but also serves as an inspiring model for other institutions and communities to embrace environmentally conscious solutions. We are proud to nurture the Hilltop by composting for a sustainable future.
