It's World Vegan Month!

A vegan diet is healthy for your body and the environment. Not only does it reduce your carbon footprint, but plants require less land, energy, and water to produce the same amount of protein as animals. Try adding some vegan meals into your diet today!

Initiatives on Campus

Here are a few of the things we’re doing on campus to manage our environmental performance:

  • SMU Hospitality has partnered with Moonshot Compost to tackle food waste and grow a greener campus. This visionary initiative showcases the university's dedication to sustainability and responsible environmental practices. The collaboration with Moonshot Compost has enabled the establishment of cutting-edge composting at Umphrey Lee Dining Hall and Arnold Dining Commons, propelling SMU's leadership in sustainable practices. Through these strong partnerships, Southern Methodist University's composting program not only minimizes organic waste on campus but also serves as an inspiring model for other institutions and communities to embrace environmentally conscious solutions. We are proud to nurture the Hilltop by composting for a sustainable future.
